North Korea refuses to take responsibility for pesticide-poisoned farmers.

The number of North Korean farmers holding cirrhosis disease is growing while the government is refusing to pay to treat them.

North Korean farmers are mobilized for bug-killing labor every year for free, spraying non ending acres of crops with pesticides. However, from the end of 2019, at the start of COVID-19, farmers were forced to spray the pesticides by themselves without protective equipment.

The doctors opinion on farmers who underwent tests was that many years of mobilization for pesticide spraying duty was likely to cause the disease. Meanwhile, the government is ignoring their plea, saying that its unacceptable that the pesticide sprayed several years ago is the cause of a recent illness.
