Report of the Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities on her visit to the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea

The Secretariat has the honour to transmit to the Human Rights Council the report of the Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities, Catalina Devandas Aguilar, on her mission to the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea from 3 to 8 May 2017. In her report, the Special Rapporteur explores issues relating to her mandate in the light of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and other international human rights instruments. On the basis of the information gathered prior to, during and after the visit, she reflects on the situation of persons with disabilities in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. She emphasizes gaps, shortcomings and areas where technical cooperation would be beneficial. Her recommendations aim to advance the rights of persons with disabilities in the country.
