N. Korea pushes strict social distancing for Chongmyong holiday
North Korea implemented strict social distancing measures for Chongmyong, a traditional holiday celebrated on Apr. 4, Daily NK sources in Ryanggang Province reported.
Celebrated to welcome the spring, Chongmyong (meaning clear and bright spring weather) became a public holiday in 2014.
On the holiday, North Koreans generally visit the graves of their ancestors, sweep and clean the graves, and conduct simple memorial ceremonies. Families also gather together to enjoy meals of steamed rice cakes or seasonal vegetables. ......
