Not a Prison camp, its a Correctional Facility
Because of the human rights pressure received from the international community, North Korea has recently explained that they actually dont have a political prisoner camps, rather they have correctional facilities.Through an interview broadcast with North Korean Police, the regime shared the actual condition of correctional facilities.
Recently a North Korean defector shared his experience as a political prisoner to the UN and ever since the UN has been pressing North Korea to improve its human rights situation. In response to the pressure from the UN, North Korea broadcasted this interview to share their version of the correctional facilities circumstances.
As expected, the interviewer shared the correctional facility in a positive light. A correctional facility member shared in the interview that Its not true what people say about how there is violence in the camp and how they dont give the in-mates food and that they have regular medical check-ups, showers, laundry time. One might question the authenticity of point of view shared in the interview, especially considering how a very different point of view might be heard from a defector.
