The level of defectors coming to South Korea is expected to reach a seven year low according to the Unification Ministry in Seoul. This follows iron-fisted border control policies introduced by Kim Jong Eun to stop North Koreans leaving the country.

 

Between January and September this year, 1,086 people were able to reach South Korea. The majority of the defectors, 783, were female the Ministry announced.
