Ilbo has reported that the US delegation visiting North Korea this
week were allowed rare access to a computer lab. The trip, described
as humanitarian in intention, includes senior staff members from
Google and Bill Richardson, a former state governor.
Computer
and internet access are extremely suppressed in North Korea. Access
to both are restricted to the elite. Restrictions have been somewhat
lifted at universities in the country, but monitoring of internet is
still prominent.
Some
students at the computer lab were seen using Google to search for
information during the visit. One of the Google party is reported to
have used a computer in the computer lab to search for information on
New York City via Google.
