Please join us for a special discussion about Korea and China with Ms. Bonnie Glaser, Senior Adviser for Asia and Director of the China Power Project at CSIS, Dr. Chung Jae-Ho, Professor and Director, Program on U.S.-China Relations at Seoul National University, and Amb. Wi Sunglac, former ROK ambassador to Russia.

Ms. Bonnie S. Glaser is a senior adviser for Asia and the director of the China Power Project at CSIS, where she works on issues related to Asia-Pacific security with a focus on Chinese foreign and security policy. She is concomitantly a nonresident fellow with the Lowy Institute in Sydney, Australia, and a senior associate with the Pacific Forum. Ms. Glaser has worked for more than three decades at the intersection of Asia-Pacific geopolitics and U.S. policy. From 2008 to mid-2015, she was a senior adviser with the CSIS Freeman Chair in China Studies, and from 2003 to 2008, she was a senior associate in the CSIS International Security Program. Prior to joining CSIS, she served as a consultant for various U.S. government offices, including the Departments of Defense and State.

Dr. Chung Jae-Ho is a professor of international relations and director of the Program on US-China Relations (PUCR) at Seoul National University. He also serves as the China Director for the Seoul Forum for International Affairs. Professor Chung is the author or editor of eighteen books, including Between Ally and Partner: Korea-China Relations and the United States (Columbia University Press, 2007) and Centrifugal Empire (Columbia University Press, 2016). He is the recipient of Seoul National University’s Best Researcher Award in 2009 and of the Korean Association for International Studies’ Best Book Award in 2012.

Amb. Wi Sunglac is a visiting professor at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy. As a retired diplomat with an over 35-year career in the Foreign Service, Amb. Wi had assumed many posts that directly related to North American Affairs and North Korean nuclear issue. His assignments included the director general of the North American Affairs Bureau, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Korean Embassy in the US, Chief Negotiator in the Six-Party Talks and the Special Representative for the Korean peninsula peace and security affairs. Most recently, he was the Ambassador to Russia. He studied international relations at the Seoul National University.
