The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK), The Simon Wiesenthal Center, and Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) held an event last Friday in Los Angeles entitled 'North Korea's Political Prisoner Camp System and the Plight of North Korean Refugees: A Call for Action.'

 

The event's main focus was two panel discussions: 'The Hidden Gulag, the Lives and Voices of Those Who Are Sent to the Mountains,' presented by David Hawk and Dr. Han Dong Ho, and 'North Korean Refugees and the Plight of Defection' presented by Melanie Kirkpatrick and Roberta Cohen. The event concluded, after a call to action by Hannah Song (LiNK President and CEO) and Dr. Cho Jung Hyun (Korea Institute for National Unification),  with a book signing by Melanie Kirkpatrick, Blaine Harden, and Shin Dong Hyuk.
